THE MIRE, THE MARSH: MARCH EDITION

THE MIRE, THE MARSH

Well holy hell it's already fucking March. How did THAT happen?

I hope you're all doing alright, the world is an utter nightmare though so I understand if you're not. It's hit and miss for me, so just know you're not alone however you're feeling.

My wife and I also find ourselves in the stressful situation of finding new housing in the next few months - its not been easy, but we're managing. Right now its a lot of waiting for other people to make decisions, but y'know, we'll survive. We're also travelling home at the end of March to visit family and also to attend a service, a bittersweet trip home to say the least.

Perhaps the most surreal thing in my life happened in February, and that's the image above. That's a marquee at a real theater with my name on it, and I really can't believe it. I started to write a whole Substack piece about it but I got self conscious and worried it was too self-congratulatory so I stopped. Maybe I'll finish it, who knows.

That said, the screening seems to have gone over quite well, so thanks so much to the folks at the Hollywood Theater in Vancouver, and everyone who went out to it!

First show of 2025 was played at the end of February. Well received (I think), so that was nice. Second show was played on March 1st, also seemed well received. Thanks to the folks at the Skeena Blend Coffee House and the Port City Distillery for having me out!

If you're keen, you can hear the first version of the first song in the live show - that's available here: https://themegafauna.bandcamp.com/album/tlooki-hazelton-bc-live or https://ampwall.com/a/megafauna/album/tlooki-hazelton-bc-live or on your preferred streaming service.

I am actively looking for shows, so if you want to book me send an e-mail to canadianmegafauna@gmail.com

February also saw the release of the first VNRL single. Maybe the ugliest piece of music I've ever made: Black Bile (ft. Homeskin). I'm very proud of how its come together. The EP, SICK, releases in May.

I don't really have any release plans for March, hopefully just some time to work on the upcoming Grumm Trencher project, and the Nothing Comes Back project. I say that like these have been imposed upon me, and not like I wanted to make different kinds of music.

The only real Syrup Moose update is that I am working on getting things wrapped up neatly. My plan is to produce all currently outstanding cassette orders, I just need to price that out and make some creative decisions so please bear with me. I can assure you that I am working on it. You've been extremely patient so far, and I am just asking for a little more of that.

Thank you for your continued support and patience.

Not much else to say at the moment, but if you have questions or want to chat - you know how to reach me.

THE MIRE, THE MARSH SYRUP MOOSE RECORDS UPDATE: Alright folks - here is the deal. At the end of THIS WEEK (MARCH 16TH, 2025) I will be putting ALL PRE-ORDERED TAPES into production. ALL cassettes will be locked after that date. There will be NO further pre-orders. If there's something up there that you want, this...
